Questions Regarding Membership
Question: What Is SCORE Manchester, NH?
Answer: One of 389 chapters and 10,500 volunteers nationally. Our headquarters are in Manchester and we have counseling locations throughout Southern (Central) NH. We have approximately 60 active members, male and female. This chapter was founded in 1967.
Question: Do I Have To Be Retired To Join SCORE?
Answer: No. Both retired and working professionals are welcome in SCORE.
Question: What Is The First Step I Should Take To Join SCORE?

Question: Why Does SCORE Interview Candidates Before Accepting Members?
Answer: Transferring business skills into counseling and mentoring situations requires different and additional skills than a business owner or manager may have used. The interviewing process permits both SCORE and the applicant to see if there is a good fit.
Question: Why Do New SCORE Members Participate In A Training Program?
Answer: The orientation and training program permits the new member to understand SCORE's mission, services, code of ethics and opportunities within the organization. The Counselor Professional Development Program provides guidance on how to be a good business counselor, find the resources our clients need and how to develop good listening, interviewing and problem-solving habits

Simplified Business Plan March 15th, @ Bedford Library, 3 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH:
The literature is full of outlines and directions for preparation of a detailed business plan. Every business should have a business plan, but recent studies have shown that the business owner can prepare a business plan in their own language, and, if structured as a set of operational tools to help run the business, it serves them well and satisfies all other requirements while significantly simplifying the writing task.

Small Business Tax Workshop, April 8, @ Laconia Savings Bank,167 Main Street, Concord, NH:
This workshop focuses on the tax laws in a manner that the small business owner can understand and then use many to enhance the cash flow and profitability of the operation while in full compliance with the law. A detail roadmap of how the business owners operation flows into the basic IRS 1040 forms which must be submitted is provided in a clear and simple manner. In addition, many useful IRS publications which address the basics for small business operations are discussed.

This workshop focuses on the fundamental aspects of defining, creating and implementing an effective web site. The workshop covers in detail the many subtle issues that make the difference between a web site that is just there and one that brings the business and its customers together. Included are discussions on domain name, user friendly design, right content, best host, proper selection of the creating team, realistic cost planning options, how to market the site and how to measure results.
